Lillian & Edward – A Wedding Love Story in Toronto, Ontario

This summer we made our way up to Toronto to film the wedding of Ed and Lillian. It was one year ago that we had recorded this surprise engagement video for the couple:

And now, it was time for the main event!

The day before the wedding, we gathered up the gear and made our way up the 401 to Toronto. We stayed the weekend at the Westin Prince Toronto Hotel, where all the festivities would be taking place. A good night’s sleep was a must, as we had a busy wedding day ahead of us!

First thing in the morning, we joined Ed and the groomsmen getting ready at his condo. The guys got suited up and Ed opened up a gift from Lillian. We also took a little time to film a funny short video segment for a same day edit we were going to show at the reception.

We then made our way back to the Westin Prince Hotel to join the girls in their preparations. Lillian put on her traditional Chinese dress for the morning’s cultural events, as the bridesmaids got ready. When the bridal party was looking their best… it was time for the guys to arrive. In order for the guys to enter and “fetch the bride”, the bridesmaids planned a series of challenging and hilarious “door games” for the guys to complete. The groomsmen did push-ups, ate some creative concoctions and acted out a funny movie scene. Once the bridesmaids were happy with their performance, Ed was allowed to see his bride to be!
Next, the families of the couple gathered in the hotel suite for the traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Ed and Lillian poured tea for their relatives, while gifts and blessings were offered in return. Lillian then got changed into her white wedding dress, in preparation for the Western ceremony as Ed and the groomsmen welcomed the arriving guests.

With their friends and family in attendance, Ed and Lillian stood together at the altar. They exchanged some beautiful, heartfelt personalized wedding vows and presented each other with the wedding bands. Ed and Lillian sealed their vows with a kiss and officially became husband and wife!

For the creative session, we followed along with their photographer Brandon Scott to Toronto’s Distillery District. The location was new to us, and we had an awesome time discovering the historic area. It was busy with people, but we made the best of the beautiful, old brick walls and historic architecture.

For the reception, we made our way back to the Westin Prince ballroom. The hall looked elegant and had treats for the guests such as the sweets table and our very own Perfect Shutter photo booth. The mood of the evening was lighthearted, with dance entrances by the bridal party and some hilarious and messy games. Meanwhile, the speeches were heartfelt and touching, and you’ll see we included a lot of the speeches in the video! The guests enjoyed a delicious dinner and danced the night away, in celebration of the newlywed couple!

Thank you Ed and Lillian for having us along on your wedding day. We’ve been honoured to capture such important moments in your lives. We hope that you love your videos!
